Next, we’ll visit one of the most spectacular viewpoints in the Azores—Grota do Inferno. While there are many vantage points to admire the crater lakes, this one offers an especially breathtaking panorama. Drone photographers will have the chance to capture the uniquely shaped Lagoa do Canário from above, revealing its intricate natural beauty.
Weather permitting, we’ll wrap up the day at Mosteiros Beach, a stunning seascape photography location where we’ll capture the golden hues of the setting sun against the dramatic rock formations and rolling waves.
Day 3
Our morning begins at the stunning Santa Iria viewpoint, where we’ll capture a breathtaking sunrise over the dramatic north coastline of the island. As the first light of the day bathes the landscape in golden hues, it’s the perfect way to start our adventure.
After breakfast, we make our way to Lagoa das Furnas, a spectacular crater lake surrounded by geothermal wonders, including bubbling mud pools and steaming fumaroles—offering fantastic opportunities for unique landscape photography.
Next, we visit Terra Nostra Park, one of the most beautiful gardens in the Azores, renowned for its lush flora and inviting thermal pools. Don’t forget your swimwear—these natural hot springs range from 35 to 40 degrees Celsius, providing a soothing and rejuvenating experience.
For lunch, we’ll indulge in Cozido das Furnas, a traditional Azorean dish slow-cooked underground using volcanic steam. To complete the culinary experience, we’ll also sample bolo lêvedo, a delicious local sweet bread.
In the afternoon, we explore Gorreana Tea Plantation, the oldest tea plantation in Europe. Here, we’ll uncover the history of tea production while photographing the rolling green fields that create a mesmerizing patchwork of textures and colors.
As the day draws to a close, we return to the island’s rugged coastline to capture the mesmerizing hues of sunset, ending the day with yet another unforgettable photographic moment.
Day 4
We begin our morning at one of São Miguel’s most extraordinary locations—the Vila Franca Islet. Known for its striking geological formation, this volcanic islet features a partially collapsed crater, creating a natural circular pool filled with seawater. For the most breathtaking shots, a drone will capture its unique shape from above, offering perspectives that few get to see.
Local flight to Flores island.
From here, we journey to one of Europe’s best-kept secrets—the wild and untamed Island of Flores. After settling into our accommodations, we shift our focus to the island’s stunning western region for an unforgettable sunset session. A short hike leads us to the breathtaking Poço da Ribeira do Ferreiro waterfalls, where a cascading series of falls meets a serene lagoon. With its lush surroundings and mirror-like reflections, this location offers endless creative opportunities for photography.
Day 5
Flores Island
Our day begins at the breathtaking Morro Alto Natural Reserve, where sweeping panoramic views unfold before us. Here, we’ll capture the striking contrast between Lagoa Negra, the deepest lagoon in the Azores, and the shimmering waters of Lagoa Comprida. From above, a perfectly straight road cuts through the landscape, creating a visually stunning composition for drone photography.
Next, we venture to Lagoa Rasa and Lagoa Funda, two neighboring lagoons set against a dramatic backdrop of rugged terrain. The difference in altitude and color between them adds depth and texture to our shots, making for truly captivating imagery.
Continuing north, we arrive in the charming town of Ponta Delgada (Flores), where we’ll explore the island’s wild coastline, pausing at scenic viewpoints to photograph its untamed beauty.
We end the day at the iconic Albarnaz Lighthouse, perched dramatically on the cliffs, overlooking the vast Atlantic. With crashing waves and ever-changing light, this location provides the perfect setting for striking seascape photography.
On Flores, nature is unpredictable, so be ready to embrace the island’s dynamic beauty and capture its raw, unfiltered essence.
Day 6
Our day begins with a breathtaking sunrise at Baía da Alagoa, a rugged bay where dramatic basalt sea stacks rise from the Atlantic, with Corvo Island providing a stunning backdrop. The interplay of light and shadow at this location makes for an unforgettable start to the day.
Next, we explore the charming town of Santa Cruz, where you’ll have time to wander its picturesque streets and soak in the island’s tranquil atmosphere before our lunch break. Nearby, we’ll visit a fascinating cave that frames the vast ocean beyond, creating a striking composition. Be sure to bring a wide-angle lens to fully capture the depth and scale of this incredible location.
As the day winds down, we head to one of Flores’ most iconic landmarks—the basalt columns of Rocha dos Bordões. These towering formations, shaped by ancient volcanic activity, provide endless opportunities for creative compositions, especially in the warm glow of sunset. It’s the perfect way to conclude another inspiring day of photography.
Day 7
Our final morning takes us to the natural swimming pools of Santa Cruz, where the rugged basalt coastline provides the perfect setting for creative compositions.
