Embark on the Jaguar Territory: A Pantanal Photo Journey and discover the beauty and wonder of one of the world’s last great wildernesses.

Day 1, July 3: Arrival at Cuiabá International Airport

Upon arrival at Cuiabá International Airport (CGB), you will be greeted by our team and transferred to your accommodation for a restful night before the adventure begins. Remember, the Pantanal is so rich in biodiversity, even the airport birds might be more exotic than the ones back home. This vast wetland is recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site and Biosphere Reserve due to its unparalleled biodiversity and ecological significance.

Day 2, Journey to the Heart of the Pantanal

After breakfast, embark on a scenic private drive to our Lodge, nestled in the heart of the Pantanal, the world’s largest tropical wetland. The Pantanal experiences a unique annual flood cycle, replenishing nutrients and supporting an incredibly diverse ecosystem. Upon arrival, settle into your standard double rooms and enjoy a delicious lunch. In the afternoon, we will explore the surrounding areas, where you can spot exotic wildlife such as capybaras, howler monkeys, and a variety of bird species including toucans and hyacinth macaws. Don’t be surprised if the local capybara gives you a look as if to say, “Another photographer, eh?”

Day 3: Full Day Wildlife Exploration

Spend the entire day immersed in the unparalleled biodiversity of the Pantanal. This wetland is one of the world’s most biologically rich environments, home to 463 species of birds, 269 species of fish, over 200 species of mammals, and countless reptiles and amphibians. Our guided tours will take you through different habitats to maximize wildlife sightings. Look out for caimans, anacondas, giant anteaters, and the elusive jaguar. Enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the Lodge, sharing stories and photographs with fellow travelers. Remember, in the Pantanal, even the insects are photogenic, though they might not always strike a pose.

Day 4: Morning Bird Watching and Transfer to Northern Pantanal

Start the day with a morning excursion dedicated to bird watching. The Pantanal is a paradise for ornithologists and photographers alike, boasting over 650 bird species. You might spot the striking jabiru stork, the largest flying bird in South America, and the brilliantly colored macaws. After lunch, we will depart for our next destination in the northern Pantanal, a journey of approximately three hours by private car. Along the way, we’ll discuss the flood cycle that sustains this dynamic habitat. If you’re lucky, you might even spot a roadside caiman giving you a toothy grin.

Days 5 and 6 and 7: Jaguar Safari on the River

These are the three full most anticipated days of the tour. We will spend our days on river safaris, searching for the majestic jaguar. Jaguars are often found along the riverbanks, hunting or lounging. With a bit of luck, we may witness a live predation, a rare and thrilling experience. The Pantanal’s flood cycle not only supports these top predators but also a diverse range of species including giant otters, caimans, and numerous birds. All meals will be provided at the hotel. These days offer unparalleled opportunities for photography, capturing the raw beauty and power of the Pantanal’s wildlife. And remember, in the jungle, the mighty jungle, the jaguar might just be napping… until you show up. Private boats with expert guides booked for these days.

Days 8, 9: Next lodge at Northern Pantanal

Arrive at our next riverside hotel in the northern Pantanal, where you’ll be accommodated for the next 2 nights. The northern Pantanal boasts the highest density of jaguars in the world, making it the best place to observe these magnificent cats in their natural habitat. After settling in, spend the afternoon exploring the rich wildlife that thrives along the riverbanks. Enjoy all meals at the hotel, where you can unwind and prepare for the exciting days ahead. Just be careful not to drop your sandwich; the local wildlife might find it irresistible.

Day 10, 12 July: Morning River Safari and Departure

On our final day, we’ll rise early for one last river safari, hoping to capture any last-minute sightings of jaguars and other wildlife. The Pantanal’s rich ecosystem, which we’ve explored over the past week, underscores why it is one of the most pristine and ecologically significant wetlands on the planet. After a half-day on the river, return to the hotel for lunch. Post-lunch, we will transfer you back to Cuiabá International Airport for your departure, or to a nearby hotel if you plan to extend your stay. Reflect on the incredible journey through this unique and vibrant environment, carrying with you memories and photographs of one of the world’s last great wildernesses.
